JapanCrate May 2017 Unboxing~

Hello! It's Amy!

So my birthday was in May and as a birthday gift, I received JapanCrate from my dear dear sister.

www.japancrate.com

JapanCrate is all about giving a bit of Japan to your front door monthly . They offer four different types of crates that each focus on different aspects such as snacks/candy, cosmetics/beauty care, random cuteness, and of course ramen! But my particular crate carried a most wonderful variety...SNACKS! :D

This JapanCrate box included 14 snacks/candy + 1 drink + 1 bonus item and a little pamphlet.

This is the Premium (the largest) size which is $30/mo
Other sizes include Original (medium $25/mo) and Mini (small $12/mo)
Automatically renews and can be cancelled at any time

The manga-esque pamphlet introduces a contest, a closer look at the yummies inside your crate, the featured goodie inside your box, a peek into Japanese culture tied to a monthly theme, and a special crate exclusive only to subscribers.

Front and Back Cover

IT'S MUNCHIES TIME!

  • TOHATO CARAMEL CORN

First off, this came in my Crate instead of Takoyaki Tei. The texture is puffy like a cheese puff but tastes like caramel popcorn.  There are peanuts mixed in at the bottom of the bag as an extra treat!
Kind of disappointed that I didn't get to try the Takoyaki Tei but the Tohato Caramel Corn was still a wonderful snack.

  • UMAI RING CHEESE
Oh man! The blast of cheese in your face when you open the bag! Very much like a Funyun except cheese flavored. The ring shape makes this snack very entertaining to munch...kind of like Bugles :D

  • DONDON YAKI: KIMCHI
Think croutons, spicy croutons. Spicy level is pretty mild (and I can't handle spicy AT ALL). Kimchi flavor wasn't strong for me but it was still delicious in a bowl of ramen.

  • ROLLCAKE: STRAWBERRY CREAM

Cute little roll cake that is perfect to put in your kid's lunchbox...or your own (ehehehe). Soft yellow cake with strawberry flavored cream. Although the strawberry and the cake itself doesn't last very long,  this is still a delicious snack.

  • DON TARO
Strongly reminds me of those brown chips in Gardetto's snack bag. The garlic rye chips...? Sure. Very similar to seasoned ramen noodles except dried, great topping to put in an actual bowl of ramen haha!

  • WASABI NORI TAROU

Medium wasabi flavor (reminder: these taste buds cannot handle spicy AT ALL). The snack itself was very sticky kind of like those fruit leather snacks but has a fishy taste. Reminds me of the dried shredded squid snack...if anybody else had that too......no? ...okay.

  • SHIMI CHOCOLATE CORN
Super cute star-shaped cookie snack that has been covered with chocolate. Very hard to go wrong anything covered in chocolate. Great as an on-the-go snack. Very delicious!

  • 6-PIECE CRISPY CORN
Honestly, my favorite snack in this Crate. Corn taste is strong and actually tastes like corn on the cob. Lightly salted but doesn't overpower corn taste. If you like corn, I definitely recommend this.

  • FUGASHI
Very airy yet crunchy puff snack. The density of this makes me think of styrofoam though. The glazed sugar coating was pleasant and it wasn't too sweet.

  • MEIGUM GABURICHU COLA

Hmmm......this...this snack....The cola flavor is present and the consistency is like taffy or a stick of caramel. I wasn't a big fan of this but if this was offered to me, I would eat it again.

  • HELLO KITTY CHOCO MARSHMALLOW
Oh no! It was melted when it arrived! 💔 Single piece of marshmallow with chocolate inside, or in this case, just a mix of both in a blob. Still, marshmallow and chocolate work very well together and throwing Hello Kitty in the mix makes it better!

  • CREAM COLLON: STRAWBERRY

There are about 5-6 bite-size pieces in six individually wrapped packets. Just like a Pirouline/Pirouette cookie cut into bite size and strawberry flavored. Perfect for sharing! Sharing is caring boys and girls.

  • MITSUYA CIDER: REFRESHING LEMON

Enjoyable simple drink. Taste resembles Sprite or 7Up (heads up 7 up!).

  • PETIT PASTEL DIY COLORFUL CHOCOLATE SNACK KIT
OH! Cute box that turns into a cute little stand display~

BUT THE ICE CREAM CHOCOLATES INSIDE...HAVE BECOME---
OOOHHHHH GAAAAAAWWWWWWD! It's all melted into one giant AMOEBA! 💔💔💔💔💔💔💔  ...I mean an abstract one-of-a-kind-cannot-be-recreated-or-imitated-even-if-you-tried-day-and-night sculpture. Shame that this particular ice cream stall wasn't even able to open up shop ever...It was still delicious chocolate though :D

  • POKEMON STICKER GUM
POKEMON! Pokemon! Pokemon! Pokemon! Pokemon! POOOOOOOKKKEEEEEEEMOOOOON!!!!!
(please insert theme song into your head here thank you)

The sticker was fun to put on back of collecting card. A single square piece of gum is included, the flavor is similar to regular bubblegum flavor but doesn't last very long.

Great little gift for a child/sibling/friend/me who likes Pokemon. Or stickers. Or Pokemon stickers. Or gum. Or gum with Pokemon. Or gum with Pokemon stickers.

  • ONE PIECE STATIONERY

This is the bonus item for the month. The stationery is 1 of 6 collectable kit. I know of One Piece but am not familiar with the story (sorry One Piece fans!) but the parts I have seen/read I did enjoy.

The stationery kit includes writing paper, envelopes, and stickers.

Even if you are not familiar with One Piece, this stationery kit is cute and you can send a little note to someone who does like One Piece!

Seeing JapanCrate in my mail was a wonderful surprise and a wonderful experience! All the snacks were pretty tasty and I'm glad I got a chance to try each and every one of them. Too bad some were melted but that's not anybody's fault and were still very yummy. This Crate encouraged my sister and I to try new snacks whenever we visited the grocery store.

SEXY CLOSE UP SHOTS! Look good for the camera! ...or just sit there. That's cool too.

Thank you for joining me on this experience I hope this encourages you to try out new snacks and foods!

3 Years Apart is not sponsored by JapanCrate at all. Thank you :)
